Hi! I’m Iselin Jolanda. Welcome to Heart of Saffron! I’m a vegetarian from Norway and I love to cook and experiment with vegetarian food. On my website you can find healthy, tasty and plant-based recipes!
I believe that cooking should be fun, creative and tasty. So to say everything is allowed including changing the recipe as long as great taste is there. Having this approach to cooking makes life more fun and less static and more tasty. Feel free to explore my recipes and add your own twist to it.
How I learnt to cook
My heart totally changed in India. It started with a short visit in 2010 which later on became longer stays. The purpose of traveling to India was to open my eyes and heart by pursuing meditation, prayers and chanting. This led me to the holy temples and ashrams of India. A part of staying in the ashram was to do different services. Somehow I was engaged in cooking and this opened a whole new world for me! I came across wonderful cooks who could cook just about anything and they would happily teach me whatever they knew. Different herbs and exotic spice blends were introduced to my rather narrow Norwegian cooking repertoire. Curry powder, methi leaves, garam masala, saffron, cardamom, nutmeg, fried cumin, fried methi, curry leaves etc. were some of the new stuff. Although I learnt a lot about cooking they told me that the most essential ingredient was our love. If love would be there then automatically our cooking would be nice.
This was the beginning of my cooking adventure. After learning so many things from so many different cooks I thought to share what I learnt over the past few years. So Heart of Saffron is meant for sharing what I learnt as well as sharing my own recipes and experiments. I love to cook and I love to eat tasty and delicious food! Whoever is interested in the same will find a lot of inspiration from Heart of Saffron.
